This week's fun questions is:

Q. WHAT IS THE BOOK THAT YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT TO LOVING??

V's answer: Gypsy Lord. My first romance I read in Jr High, passed down to me by mom. Sounds cheesy and it is, awesomely cheesy.

K's answer: Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning, it's a super hot, smokin' book. Which might explain why I don't want to admit I love it. :)

  6. K, I know it's a classic, but it is a very controversial story. I was in the 7th grade when I read it which made it even more gasp worthy. Times have changed and we are all much more desensitized to things; but it still isn't a book I want my teen to read!

Up until November I had never even read an adult romance, and even then it has all be tasteful... so I have nothing to really hate to admit to loving.

  7. Can't decide between Butch and Rhage. Zsadist has too much angst for my taste.
But a master of desire = V. CG you need that one!;)

  8. Mine is Savage Conquest by Janelle Taylor. It's a Zebra historical romance about a half Sioux man who returns from schooling in Boston with a socialite fiance...

  11. Look at all these great recommendations! (adding to TBR list)

M.d. I know what you mean, believe it or not, I hadn't read any real heavy romantic books until recently. I used to read a lot of political thrillers. (this is K talking)

Pam - I really like them all...I think Rhage is my second fav. though...

  12. V says- I have had romance passed down to me from my mother since 7th grade so its my bread and butter. Guess it stuck :) Who can't appreciate a feisty heroine and a happily ever after ending. As I have grown I will read anything. I especailly like stories with a thriller element and Catherine Coulter's FBI series are always on my list. K has only gotten me into BDSM recently. She is a bad influence on innocent ol' me.

  14. I've seen some surprising answers but I think my response to this week's Follow Friday question will shock most.

I have to say that I loved the Harry Potter series but have a really hard time admitting it. It's teenage stuff. Perfect for the YA audience, sure.

But a grown man who just last week blogged about wishing he could step inside the Rogue Warrior book series with Navy SEALs shooting, looting, drinking and wenching has got a real hard time admitting to loving teenie-bopper Harry Potter.

I go into much more detail on my blog and welcome all comments - http://www.howardsherman.net

All I ask is that everyone try and keep their comments civil. It's cool to disagree but flame wars are NOT cool.

    Thank God it's Follow Friday!

  17. Great to meet you and thanks for checking out my blog, too. My reluctant favorite is one of Robert A. Heinlein's SF juvys, Podkayne from Mars. I had much older brothers and Mom worked at the local library, so I whipped through a wide variety of stuff, but this one stuck with me. I was convinced (spoiler alert!!!) she died at the end, but re-reading it in my 30s, I discovered she did not. I mentioned it at a WorldCon panel on Heinlein and Betty Ballentine said they had him change it, she had died in his original submission. Baen Books issued a trade version with both endings a year or so later! Thanks for bringing up a good memory!
